hands_around_world_fullThe Saint Cloud Mission Office carries the primary responsibility for promotion of the global outreach of the Catholic Diocese of Saint Cloud. We are the office for the Pontifical Mission Societies (global pastoral and evangelization work in some of the poorest dioceses of our world) as well as for Catholic Relief Services (CRS) (emergency relief, sustainable development and global solidarity efforts in 99+ countries across the globe).  The staff considers their role to be bridge-builders between our diocesan church and communities of faith throughout the world. Our role at the Mission Office is proactive as we strive to help everyone see the face of God in all people. It is to walk together on a journey of faith, living out our membership and our call to the Global church, united as one family. It is about all of us together educating, learning, and teaching each other about our similarities, our differences and the giftedness of everyone in God’s great world.

Please visit the pages above to learn more about this remarkable type of ministry and all the great things happening in mission around our diocese, and world – from diocesan partnerships and missioners to the Pontifical Mission Societies and CRS, from parish mission groups and mission trips to education opportunities and fair trade, and more!

World Mission Rosary/Missionary Childhood Day in October

October 5th is “Missionary Childhood Day” – a day when kids. youth and adults are asked to recognize their young peers in other parts of the world.  Our diocese celebrates this day each year by asking our schools and parishes to pray the World Mission Rosary at some point on or near that date.  It is a wonderful way to join other people around the world in praying for our world – just think of the great power of prayer and the difference we can make!

If your school, parish, family or group is interested in praying on World Mission Rosary day, please contact us for FREE World Mission Rosaries and/or more information.  View more information and a request form, including sample bulletin/newsletter announcements here.

A Culture of Encounter: Mission at the Heart of Our Faith in Christ

October 25-27, 2018

Boston Marriott Quincy Hotel

Click here for more information about the conference

All Catholics are called to mission –  to move beyond ourselves, to step outside of our comfort zone, to cross some type of border (geographic, socio-economic, linguistic), to risk a personal encounter with a stranger, and to do so in the name of the Gospel.

Scripture proclaims that when we encounter others, especially the poor, those in need, and the stranger, we encounter Christ (Mt 25). The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that the faithful, through the waters of baptism, are “incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission” (CCC 1213).

Pope Francis reminds us that our encounter with Christ is at the heart of our faith. In Evangelii Gaudium, the Holy Father exhorts all Catholics to live with a missionary zeal and not to leave the work of evangelization to a handful of religious. To that end, USCMA strives to convene, connect, and collaborate with missionary orders, groups, and parish-based mission-minded faithful to promote mission and global solidarity. The annual conference is an opportunity for people of faith to come together to share their experience of living missionary discipleship.
