hands_around_world_fullThe Saint Cloud Mission Office carries the primary responsibility for promotion of the global outreach of the Catholic Diocese of Saint Cloud. We are the office for the Pontifical Mission Societies (global pastoral and evangelization work in some of the poorest dioceses of our world) as well as for Catholic Relief Services (CRS) (emergency relief, sustainable development and global solidarity efforts in 99+ countries across the globe).  The staff considers their role to be bridge-builders between our diocesan church and communities of faith throughout the world. Our role at the Mission Office is proactive as we strive to help everyone see the face of God in all people. It is to walk together on a journey of faith, living out our membership and our call to the Global church, united as one family. It is about all of us together educating, learning, and teaching each other about our similarities, our differences and the giftedness of everyone in God’s great world.

Please visit the pages above to learn more about this remarkable type of ministry and all the great things happening in mission around our diocese, and world – from diocesan partnerships and missioners to the Pontifical Mission Societies and CRS, from parish mission groups and mission trips to education opportunities and fair trade, and more!

IMG_2425-2Congratulations Fr. Richard Gans, OCSO!  Fr. Gans celebrated his 60th Jubilee this past weekend at his home parish of St. Alexius in West Union, Minnesota (pictured at left).  Fr. Gans serves as a missioner with the Trappist community at Santa María de Miraflores Monastery in Rancagua, Chile.  Blessings on your jubilee and many more years in mission Fr. Gans!

Hot off the press – the Summer “Mission Connections” Newsletter is available!  View it here (as a PDF), or contact the Mission Office to have a copy mailed directly to you.  You can also check out the Newsletter page of our website for past issues – all packed full of mission stories, events, prayers and highlights from around our diocese and world.    Enjoy some good summer reading today!

Mark your calendars now – the 3rd Annual Diocesan Barn Dance is coming!  Saturday, September 24th at the Mark and Carla farm in Browerville, beginning with Mass with Bishop Kettler at 4:30pm, followed by a picnic supper, live music, hayrides, fun for the kids, bonfire, silent auction and more!  Free will offering; proceeds support our diocesan partnerships with Homa Bay, Kenya and Maracay, Venezuela.

Thank you for your prayers!  Father Tom Mboya, a priest of our partner diocese of Homa Bay, Kenya, was successfully granted his visa this past weekend, allowing him to come and minister in the St. Cloud Diocese.  Fr. Tom has been selected by Bishop Philip Anyolo of the Diocese of Homa Bay to be our next missioner priest for the partnership, taking the place of Fr. John Philip Odero, who has been serving here for about five years and will return to Kenya in September.  We welcome Fr. Tom, who arrived in the U.S. on June 27th, and we continue to pray for him as he begins his time of ministry and partnership with our diocese!  Karibu Fr. Tom!
